چکیده
In this issue of Blood, Kang and colleagues describe a molecular signaling network involving Notch, COUP-TFII, and Prox-1, along with other supporting molecules, that regulates the specification and maintenance of lymphatic endothelial cells.

Prox1 physically and functionally interacts with COUP-TFII to specify lymphatic endothelial cell fate.
Specification of endothelial cell (EC) fate during vascular development is controlled by distinct key regulators. While Notch plays an essential role in induction of arterial phenotypes, COUP-TFII is required to maintain the venous EC identity. Homeodomain transcription factor Prox1 functions to reprogram venous ECs to lymphatic endothelial cells (LECs). Here, we report that the venous EC fate ...
متن کاملThe turnip mutant of Arabidopsis reveals that LEAFY COTYLEDON1 expression mediates the effects of auxin and sugars to promote embryonic cell identity.
The transition from embryonic to vegetative growth marks an important developmental stage in the plant life cycle. The turnip (tnp) mutant was identified in a screen for modifiers of POLARIS expression, a gene required for normal root growth. Mapping and molecular characterization of tnp shows that it represents a gain-of-function mutant of LEAFY COTYLEDON1 (LEC1), due to a promoter mutation. T...
متن کاملEffect of altered CH2-associated carbohydrate structure on the functional properties and in vivo fate of chimeric mouse-human immunoglobulin G1
Immunoglobulin G (IgG) molecules are glycosylated in CH2 at Asn297; the N-linked carbohydrates attached there have been shown to contribute to antibody (Ab) stability and various effector functions. The carbohydrate attached to the IgG constant region is a complex biantennary structure. Alterations in the structure of oligosaccharide have been associated with human diseases such as rheumatoid a...
متن کاملCOUP-TFII orchestrates venous and lymphatic endothelial identity by homo- or hetero-dimerisation with PROX1.
Endothelial cell (EC) identity is in part genetically predetermined. Transcription factor NR2F2 (also known as chicken ovalbumin upstream promoter transcription factor II, COUP-TFII) plays a key role in EC fate decision making; however, many of the underlying mechanisms remain enigmatic. In the present study, we demonstrate that NR2F2 differentially regulates gene expression of venous versus ly...
متن کاملLAP AROSCOPIC OVARIAN ELECTROCAUTERIZATION (LEC)
Seventeen patients with polycystic ovarian disease (peOD) were treated by laparoscopic ovarian electrocauterization (LEC). Ten were admitted to hospital for infertility, four for hirsutism, two for severe scalp hair loss, and one for abnormal uterine bleeding. Four of the patients were virgins. We had 50% (5 of 10) pregnancies and 88% (15 of 17) showing a decline in testosterone levels aft...
